Why Asian American is politically so weak? Because Asian Americans historically are willing to bed with AA supporting party and are willing to sacrifice our children's interests in expect for some gains. The reality is they prolong the poverty in disadvantaged communities, we ended up with higher taxes and a cap on out children's future. Economist reporter asked me: why did not Asian American elected leaders fight for Ivy leagues' discriminations against your community? The above is the reason
@Lantong I do not see significant risk here because we support economic based AA. We have no other alternatives. Though Supreme Court has been gradually reducing racial consideration in college admissions, Asian Americans suffer from worsening discrimination. The California experience proves, a total ban of racial considerations the right solution.
It is not about the number. It is about our dignity and pride. Why is our children's hard work penalized? It is not about AA, but about our equal rights in education.
@Lantong "Given what is occurring at Harvard and at other schools, the proper response is the outright prohibition of racial preferences in university admissions—period." SFFA的起诉书掷地有声。"Allowing this issue to be litigated in case after case will only “perpetuate the hostilities that proper consideration of race is designed to avoid.” ... Harvard and other academic institutions cannot and should not be trusted with the awesome and historically dangerous tool of racial classification. As in the past, they will use any leeway the Supreme Court grants them to use racial preferences in college admissions...to engage in racial stereotyping, discrimination against disfavored minorities, and quotasetting to advance their social-engineering agenda."
I've expressed my honest opinion. I am done. Again, thank you for all your effort and action. You've taken a huge responsibility, please live up to it and don't lose your sight and make this an ego contest.
@Lantong you have misunderstanding in your math. This is not a zero sum game with black and Hispanic. Because racial factor is in college admission, Asian Americans suffer more discrimination than white, who are not favored by AA either. The girl in New England who filed complaint against nine top universities is a good example. More than 10 white students ranked lower than her got admitted by Ivy leagues.
"SFFA的起诉书:Harvard and other academic institutions cannot and should not be trusted with the awesome and historically dangerous tool of racial classification. As in the past, they will use any leeway the Supreme Court grants them to use racial preferences in college admissions...to engage in racial stereotyping, discrimination against disfavored minorities, and quotasetting to advance their social-engineering agenda." Interesting. Assuming this is true, what I don't understand is why Harvard and other elite schools spare no efforts to selectively and systematically discriminate against Asians, not against other group? Anybody here care to shed some light?@Henry Yang
Quota applied only to Asians? That doesn't make sense. "they will use any leeway the Supreme Court grants them to..."sounds like Asians are their sworn enemy.
