Trump has picked a Big Pharma CEO, Alex Azar, to be his next Secretary of Health and Human Services. Once again, a Trump fox is guarding the chickens. But in this case, it's even worse. Under Azar's leadership, Eli Lilly tripled the price of insulin --putting it out of financial reach of those needing it, and also raiding Medicare and Medicaid to pay for much of the tripled price. If he's confirmed as HHS secretary, Azar would oversee Medicare and Medicaid. There's more. Lilly tripled insulin's price at the same time the other major drug companies that produce insulin also tripled its price. How could this be? It's called price fixing. Before Azar is confirmed, the public deserves to know all the facts. Please join me in calling on Congress to conduct a full investigation of his role in this alleged price-fixing scheme.
I have a rule: never discuss politics at work. Lucky for me, it’s been very easy to keep this rule. Although I’m in a right-wing-dominated industry, in Orlando most people keep their views to themselves. However, for the past few months, I’ve had to work in Texas. I don’t know if it’s the state or my new place of work—either way, this place doesn’t have the same code. So when a guy went on a tear about Obamacare (we still doing that?) and told his friend that he could just go the ER if he gets sick (cuz that’s free), I kept quiet.
