Faculty leaders of the University of California consider certain statements racism and feel they should not be used in class. They call it micro-aggression. To them, micro-aggressive racist statements are: “America is the land of opportunity.” That is seen as perpetuating the myth of meritocracy. “There is only one race, the human race.” Such a statement is seen as denying the individual as a racial/cultural being. “I believe the most qualified person should get the job.” That’s “racist” because it gives the impression that “people of color are given extra unfair benefits because of their race.”
For those who’re actually interested in political prediction, allow me to introduce Nate Silver and the blog he created, FiveThirtyEight. His analyses are data driven and quite careful. And he also explains things well. You don't have to take my words for it. Google “Nate Silver”, particularly his results for the 2012 and 2008 elections. His predictive skills beat the whole political chattering class. This is what he wrote recently: http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/hillary-clinton-scandal-inevitable-problems/

Some say,Chinese are very precise at small numbers, but vague with large numbers. Plus, math is not the only gig in life. So it's not plausible to argue about college admission solely based on SAT and xCAT
There is a prevalent misconception among the Chinese that my kid deserves a seat bc his/her test score is top 99 % (plus playing piano well). universities have different educational philosophies and their perceived responsibilities to the society, and they allocate the admission "quota" accordingly. And that's the "policy" they will adjust from time to time based on the circumstance. For people oriented profession, such as doctors, pharmacists, nurses, SAT clearly is not going to be the first order of consideration, that's where interview comes to play. Anyway it's more than score and race.
@T Dai you are very holistic and idealistic indeed. Don't you think that school in VA needs to accommodate congresswoman and senators in dc area.Likewise, IVY has ,"reservations" for international 皇公貴族. So domestic accommodation, international special group (they make huge donations) racial/minority balance...it boils down about 25% for your talented kid. Another example, your chance for being admitted to west point is probably worse than Harvard.
What percentage will Harvard do? Top half percent? This kind of system benefit whites the most, limits blacks, increase Asian-to-Asian competition because the way how each population spreads.
Edward Blum and his Fisher has been there long before he even had a thought on Chinese. @赵宇空 you are just a mean to a goal he has long held. And you don't even know it.
