Very touching story. It is so true that we could spend $100 easily for a dinner, but we could invest the same amount to our children's future. They would have equal opportunity and justice like their fellow Americans.
My Jewish friend told me that making contribution to AIPAC every year is like an insurance premium for securing her and her family future in this country. Let's learn from them.
Tony, regardless which party is in White House, we need to have means to hold the candidate accountable. Making the candidate sign the Questionnaire is part of process. 80-20 would like to be strong like AIPAC with money and people behind. It will have no need to support any candidate. The candidates from both parties will come to us and court us for support.
@T Dai 谢谢解释。那我就可以明确反对80-20了。It's not effective and on the way of dying anyway. At this moment, focusing on the presidential election is the wrong strategy for Chinese American.
Presidential election is a more than billion dollar effort. How much can 80-20 raise to let the candidate notice? Most Chinese votes are in CA and NYC which will be safely in the democratic column anyway. For all the arguments I have with SVCA, putting their weight behind a California republican in a democrat dominated state level election is more effective than what 80-20 wants to do.
