哈哈哈,It is funny to see politicians poking at each other and media in a fun way. 斗争方式值得我们学习,也希望中国或华人的政治也能进化到这步,同样是你死我活的政治斗争。每年的White House Correspondents' dinner is lots of fun. 我最爱看的当然是2010年黄西的那段。
I have to admit, after I voted for George W. Bush reelection, I voted for Obama in year 2008, because I would like to see somebody at the top office who is not white male, to prove that everybody including our kids has a chance. Then 2012, my rational side caught up. I voted for Romney, who is a moderate Republican, but apparently the majority of the country disagreed. Sadly, over 70% of Asian American voted for Obama that time, which I could not explain why. Asian American's value is very close to value of conservatives, hardworking, family value, low tax, however, time and time, we voted for liberals. I would like to have a panel someday, to discuss why.
@老客Cliff李忠刚 thanks. This song admittedly has an overtone of American exceptionalism. But, hey, today is 4th of July, we can take the whatever-ism for a day. Enjoy the BBQ and firework. Cheers!
For us the 1st gen of Chinese Americans, America is our adopted home. Yes America is far from perfect, and yes we earned what we have by our honest work. But we should also be thankful. Name another country in the world that is more generous to immigrants than America?
@江声 This is what I wrote in my moment: "I came to US in year 1990. Only last several years, I stayed in China a lot. I have to admit I actually had a cultural shock in the beginning when I was there, however, I quickly adapted, and gosh, I love the people, love the culture, the food, and especially love being with friends, old classmates there. I will enjoy visiting very much. In the other hand, my family including myself lives in the US, where my kids will grow up to be Americans. We love the land, the people, and the spirit. We are proud to be American, we are proud to be Chinese American. This is our home!"
We will work hard to contribute to this great society; and at the same time, we will get our fair share of fruits in all levels of this society. That is us.
@Jack 戴 I was not surprised that Obama democrates won Asian's votes over Romney. However, 73% vs 25%? I don't understand. Bill Clinton only won 31% of Asian votes. http://www.nationaljournal.com/politics/obama-overwhelmingly-won-asian-american-vote-20121108
